Saumya Rana, Ph.D.

Saumya Rana is an Economist at the Washington, DC office of Welch Consulting. Dr. Rana received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Houston, a M.S. in Mineral and Energy Economics from Colorado School of Mines and a M.S. in Petroleum Economics and Management from the French Institute of Petroleum. She specialized in Applied Microeconomics and Applied Econometrics with a particular focus on Labor and Urban issues. Dr. Rana’s dissertation looked at the impact of inter-generational cultural preferences on residential sorting and persistence in ethnic segregation. She has also been engaged with research projects that study the impact of occupational flexibility on the gender wage gap in the U.S. During her Ph.D., Dr. Rana taught undergraduate courses in Microeconomics and Statistics.
